Handcrafted in the small island community of Sitka, Alaska, Jim and Darcy Michener have refined the process for many years to assure that Alaska Pure sea salt is representative of the clean, pure water of the Gulf of Alaska. It is flakey in texture, but with each flake made up of complex clusters and small geometric jumbles. Alaska Pure is great for lean red game meats such as elk, buffalo, and venison. On the flip side, this flake salt is wonderful on fatty fish like salmon and tuna, and on rich vegetables like squash and parsnips.
Abundant moisture lends the crystals a resiliency on food and a suppleness to the tooth that makes for a spectacular experience of this salt's fresh, almost sweet mineral flavor.
Alaska Pure sea salt is a pyramidal finishing salt that does not have any of the bitterness associated with table salt. It is a delicate flake that crumbles easily between the fingers.
