Bitterman's Smoked Pimentón from Spain

Smoky, tomato-y, sweet for chicken, shrimp and fish, paella, popcorn and potatoes!

In Extremadura, a western Spanish region bordering Portugal, sweet red pimentón peppers are dried over an oak fire for 2 weeks, then ground into a powder. The resulting smoky, sweet, tomato-y rich flavor and bright rust color is a knockout on shrimp and fish, paella, popcorn, potatoes and more.

Try seasoning a whole chicken with smoked pimenton, fleur de sel, and lemon, then roasting in the oven. Sprinkle over dips and spreads like homemade hummus or pimento cheese dip for a crowning touch of smoky sweet flavor and visual pizzazz. Sauté shrimp in butter, garlic, fleur de sel and generous dusting of smoked pimentón - top with fresh herbs, and serve with crusty bread to sop up the juices. One of our favorite ways to use this here in the Bitterman household is to sprinkle nutritional yeast, garlic, Himalayan salt and smoked pimentón over freshly popped popcorn. Wow!

Well, it's high time we did!

Bitterman's single origin spices are gathered from around the world, in collaboration with expert spice hunters. We pack spices in small quantities to ensure freshness. We encourage you to use spices daily and replenish with a new box of spices as needed (hopefully, monthly!). Store in a cool, dry place.
