A recent letter

I ordered a mystery box to share with my partner on our recent kinda vacation... I love how it was wrapped simply with brown paper and tied with twine...

Bitterman's Citrusy Margarita Salt

Tangy, juicy, salty, citrusy... I'll have another!

Margaritas get their punch from citrus, their kick from tequila, and their bite from salt. When reaching for your salt to rim the glass, you want something flaky, citrusy, and sparkling. Here’s your answer. Just jazz the thing up with some bitters and let the cards fall where they may.

Citrusy Margarita

Serves 1 (you)

  • 8 dashes orange, lemon, or lime bitters
  • Salt, for rimming the glass
  • 2 ounces blanco tequila
  • ¾ ounce Cointreau
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • ¾ agave syrup
  • 1 lime wedge, for garnish

Moisten the edge of the glass with a drop of bitters and rim with salt. Shake all the remaining ingredients except the lime wedge with ice. Strain into a double rocks glass. Garnish with the lime wedge. Serve with homemade salsa and a heaping bowl of guacamole. Cheers!

Margarita Variations: Add a handful of strawberries in the shaker and muddle, then follow recipe as directed. Or blend it all up in a blender with a few handfuls of ice.

Ingredients: Flake sea salt, lime oil, orange oil, orange juice powder, lime peel powder, citric acid.

Lacking on the “citrus”

Expected a more pronounced citrus pop which I didn’t get. Used it to rim margarita glasses and turned out to be nothing special over what I had used in the past. Balance between salt and tart wasn’t there.

Margarita salt!

I went to Margaritaville and this salt went with me! We both had a wonderful time! The salt really enhances the flavor of the drink. Highly recommended.
