Harvested from the Isle of Rhé off the West coast of France, this sel gris is harvested according to the traditional methods introduced by Cistercian monks in the 13th century. Coarse and rich in minerals, these crystals are ideal for salt crusted fish recipes and for finishing grilled meats.

The salt is excellent and shipping packaging was very adequate. I bought this as a gift and was disappointed that the label as pictured on website was replaced by a "substitute " label that appears to be a 1 inch by 4 inch mailing label. The ink was smeared as well. I lowered my rating one star because the salt is expensive and it's not as nice as my other salt orders from The Meadow.
