A recent letter

I ordered a mystery box to share with my partner on our recent kinda vacation... I love how it was wrapped simply with brown paper and tied with twine...

Lillie Belle Dark Star 80% Dark Chocolate

A perpetual exploration of the infinite.

"Dark star crashes, pouring its light into ashes,
Reason tatters, the forces
tear loose from the axis.
Searchlight casting for faults
in the clouds of delusion.
Shall we go, you and I
while we can, through the
transitive nightfall of
diamonds?..." rh

A cult-classic made in Central Point, Oregon. Beloved by many, hoarded by many (some customers wisely buy this by the case-full!), enjoyed by all. This chocolate bar is crafted using exceptional organic cacao beans from Venezuela, Peru and Madagascar. Each player adds their own character and nuance to the finished piece. But a good Dark Star has no beginning and no end.

Flavor Notes: Prunes, walnuts, honey.

Lillie Belle Farms is a bean to bar chocolate maker and confectioner based in Southern Oregon, founded in 2005 by Jeff Shepherd. The company grows many of the ingredients at their organic farm, and teams up with Oregon artisans to source premium ingredients to use in their infusions.

Net weight: 2.5oz / 70g

With its classic Dead reference and generous proportions, I was impressed with the value the HUGE bar offered. Hearing Dark Star live is a rare and lengthy treat for any true fan. Similarly, this bar gradually provides a fudgy fun flavor that takes its time to unfold on your tongue. Alas, there are moments of empty space on the palate that needed a few more flavor notes to fully impress. Yet, its amazing price at $5 makes it impossible not to give it a try.

Smooth texture and rich flavor

This was delicious for an 80% cocoa bar... not as much bitter after effect as usual... for high cocoa bars.
