Working with over 5,000 smallholder farmers across the Kilombero Valley, Kokoa Kamili transforms freshly harvested beans through a meticulous 6-day fermentation in locally crafted eucalyptus boxes. The beans are then sun-dried on raised tables, allowing the region's pristine air to enhance their complex flavor profile.
But this isn't just exceptional cocoa – it's a catalyst for change. By managing fermentation centrally and paying premium prices for wet beans, Kokoa Kamili has transformed the region from one of Tanzania's lowest-paid cocoa communities to its highest. Their commitment extends beyond commerce to conservation, having planted over half a million trees to support both farmers and the unique ecosystem they call home.
