Bergamot (bergamotto in Italian) is a relative of the bitter orange and most prized for the fragrant essential oil extracted from its skin, which gives Earl Grey tea its signature flavor. Its heady aroma is citrusy, herbal, and boldly floral.

Whole bergamots are crushed together with olives in a state-of-the-art frantoio, sealing the essential oils of the bergamot zest in the resulting extra virgin olive oil. Agrumato® Bergamot is ideal for dressing salads, as an accent for raw scallops or grilled fish, and simply on soft cheeses like stracciatella. It is also excellent in cakes and desserts.

Traditionally in this region of Italy, olive farmers have celebrated the end of the harvest by crushing lemons with freshly picked olives. The Ricci family had the ingenuity to bottle this unique oil, reviving a nearly forgotten Abruzzese tradition, as well as create new flavors with different citrus fruits.
