This sea salt underscores the importance of water source and the saltmaker’s craft. Seawater sourced from the ultra pure waters around Molokai are solar evaporated and combined with red Alaea volcanic clay to achieve an ultra mineral-rich sea salt with the clear, refreshing flavor of deep Pacific waters. The salt is used in Hawaii for both seasoning and preserving foods. Hawaiians believe that the baked Alaea clay, which is composed of over 80 minerals, provides a variety of benefits, with detoxifying and healing powers. While the salt has also been used historically for ceremonial purposes such as blessing and purifying sea-going canoes, it also works wonders on seafood, pork, and fruit salads, and can be ground to produce a glinting blend of white and red color.
Ingredients: Sea salt, alaea clay
Perfect for black bean soup.
Love the taste of this item, use it almost daily in my omlets.
Very nice on anything!
After purchasing and paying for my items, none which said backorder, I waited for a shipping notice. Weeks went by, no contact, I knew mail was backed up, when I enquired about my order, I was informed that the bitters I had ordered was on back order. Okay, but no one told me this. After a couple more weeks, no email shipping update, I finally get my order of my salt. No bitters. I check the invoice and it says refunded. No option to pick another bottle of bitters or anything. After waiting days, I finally contacted Meadows, as I still had not received my refund. They had forgot to give me the refund. This was not a good customer experience.
All my salts are nice.
Hi Lindsey,
We are so sorry we missed the mark on your order. We are a very small company and this past Holiday season proved to be extremely busy for us. Regardless, this is simply unacceptable customer service on our end and we would love to make it right. We will contact you privately regarding this and will ensure we rectify this situation :)
Best,
Christiana
I've always loved using different salts, but was not aware of the multitude of varieties! After discovering The Meadow in an internet search, I purchased 5 types of salt. The Molokai Red is very salty, and very tasty. It goes with everything. I put it on some steamed broccoli, and my 8-year-old son commented that the salt is special. It's so good as a daily everything-salt, that it is now part of setting the table.
