You'll be surprised by this well-rounded sweetened tomato drinking vinegar, known as a "shrub". Based on a colonial recipe to preserve fruit syrup, this red, fruity and earthy syrup is just sweet enough and pleasingly tart. We love it with seltzer for a refreshing tonic, or splashed with your liquor of choice. Mixed into a bloody mary it's fantastic, but we must admit, we're partial to bourbon (use a splash in your Manhattan or Old Fashioned). This is also fantastic used as a glaze or marinade for chicken, fish, and steak and makes a perfect addition to a winter vinaigrette longing for a taste of summer's perfect tomatoes.
