Cuna de Piedra 70% Mexican Dark Chocolate with Ancient Spring Salt

A stunner! Cuna de Piedra Chocolate joined Slow Food Mexico in support of their initiative to protect and preserve the salt mines in Zapotitlán Salinas, from which the ancient spring salt in this bar comes. This practice, and the mines themselves, are in danger of being lost. Most of these salt makers are reaching an advanced age, and many young people in the community are migrating in search of better economic opportunities, while the land is being sold off for onyx extraction. Slow Food International designated this salt with the title of Presidia in 2018 to promote its historical, cultural, and gastronomic value.

Origin: Comalcalco, Tabasco, Mexico

Ingredients: Cacao beans, cane sugar, mineral spring salt.

Net weight: 2.1oz / 60g

Made in Monterrey, Nueva Leon, Mexico!

Bold and Woody

This chocolate packs a punch. There is a strong cacoa flavor leaning towards bitter. Salt not overpowering, but matched nicely with the unique flavor of this cacao. Woody, dark chocolate, notes with a hint of ancient salt. Very good chocolate.
