In the summer of 2013, we opened our third shop in the historic Nob Hill District of Portland at805 NW 23rd Ave. This is the same neighborhood where, rumor has it, Asa Lovejoy and Francis Pettygrove flipped the coin to decide Portland's name (Pettygrove won!). This location is our largest (by about 50 sq ft) and plays host to many hungry travelers and curious tourists, especially during the warmer summer months. We sell our largest selection of chocolate bars here at about 400, and the entire back wall is made of quartz-colored slabs of pink Himalayan salt. The wall, of course, was built by Mark himself.

Who could predict a trans-Pacific Ocean love affair with Japan would eventually bring us to the heart of Tokyo?! But a shared passion for the delicious, a love of making human connections, a boundless appetite for discovery has bonded us. In March of 2019 we opened the doors in the almost impossibly busy corridors of Shinjuku Station. Seven days a week we share our passion for craft salt, chocolate bars, cocktail bitters and fresh cut flowers. Seven days a week we teach, we learn, and groove to the vibrations of a growing craft food movement in Japan and across Asia.

Portland, OR 97227

*Currently closed but expect to reopen summer 2021. Shop online or head to our NW 23rd shop

Our N Mississippi Ave. shop is in the heart of Portland's historic Mississippi District, surrounded by many of the city's finest restaurants and cafes, independently owned shops, cutting edge music venues, and more.

Our first shop, N. Mississippi Ave. opened in the spring of 2006 out of shared love of food and travel. We picked the shop's location on Mississippi Avenue in North Portland for its unmistakable air of community mindedness and for the irreproachable collection of rag-tag businesses that had sprouted there: a bakery, a coffee roaster, a few bars and restaurants, a carpenter, a lumber yard, and the world's leading lightbulb store. The shop's name was chosen because we wanted to create a place that felt like coming home, where personal connections and sensual pleasures welcome you. Spend time amidst beautiful fresh cut flowers, taste strange and enticing foods, and explore the astonishing depth of the elemental ingredients.
