Received the 8x8x1.5" slab as a gift from my mom, along with the Salt Block Cooking book. My son decided to try it immediately with a recipe for cranberry-cherry scones he found online. He pre-heated the block on the stovetop, then transferred it to the oven and baked the scones. We waited in anticipation, wondering what we were going to get. The scones plumped up nicely and the aroma filled the kitchen. The bottom of the scones were slightly crispy on the bottoms and had a faint hint of Himalayan salt to them, subtle yet noticeable. They tried to escape over the edges, but all-in-all, a smashing success for our first salt block cooking experience!! Would highly recommend them.
At 7 lb 13.4 oz it holds a lot of heat, so be careful. What a gorgeous work of art, we hated to "ruin" it by cooking on it, but the experience was worth it.
I started out small with the watermelon salad and loved the flavor it gave. Plan to build up to using it on grill and trying new recipes!

I absolutely love this item! I have used it about 7 times in 2 weeks! I was afraid I would mess it up,(crack or break it on grill) I followed the instructions every time and it is wonderful. I have grilled Rib eye steaks, lobster, shrimp,aspearagus chicken breasts. All came out delish! Will purchase another one soon
