Excellent finishing salt at a fraction of the French equivalent

After years of using Fleur de Sel from one of the designated French areas, we gave this Guatemalan hand raked salt a try. We’ve been using it for a year and are so happy we did. It’s a terrific clean tasting finishing salt at a very fair price.

Ice Cream ... and more!

I learned about this particular Fleur de Sel while reading Tyler Malek's ice cream "cookbook" (Salt & Straw). The nuances of this salt (and its relatively low carbon footprint) got a mention, so I gave it a try. Wow!

To say I'm in love with this salt is an understatement. It's got a wonderful light flaky texture, and it enhances a wide range of dishes from eggs lightly fried and topped with guacamole salsa, to a light sprinkle across chocolate chunk cookies, to a dusting on top of a fine grilled steak. I love it on fresh summer tomatoes. My main mistake was in buying a smaller jar ... I'm close to being out already, and am coming back for the box size (which I sent as a gift to a friend). Definitely a winner!

My “go to” special salt is Bitterman’s Fleur de Sel. It is a perfectly balanced salt. This time I also ordered the Pink Himalayan salt and Piran Sel Gris. Love them all.
